Nantes is the largest city in Pays de la Loire region and western France, as well as the sixth-largest city in the country. In 2013, it was honored with the European Green Capital Award, making it the first city in France to receive this recognition. When traveling to France, most people first think of Paris. However, taking a train from Paris to Nantes takes only about 2.5 hours, making it a great destination for a weekend getaway, a spontaneous trip, or even a one-day city trip.
